Commercial Radon Mitigation Systems

The principle is identical to a house: hold the space beneath the slab at lower pressure than the room above it, and soil gas leaves by pipe instead of through the floor. What changes at scale is that you can no longer assume one suction point covers the footprint.

Sub-slab communication testing settles it. It measures how far a single suction point actually influences beneath the slab, which varies with the fill material and is frequently much less than a residential rule of thumb suggests. Skipping that diagnostic is the single most common reason a commercial system is installed undersized and never brings the building down to target.

The system also has to work alongside the building's mechanical plant rather than against it, because a design that upsets the HVAC pressure balance creates problems it did not have. Work starts from a zone-by-zone measurement, finishes with verification in every treated area, and where the contaminant is chemical the same engineering appears as vapor intrusion mitigation.
