The physics are identical whatever the building is; what changes is scale, access and paperwork. A single-family house usually needs one radon test placed in the lowest lived-in level. A commercial building, a multi-unit property or a school needs a measurement strategy that accounts for separate HVAC zones, occupancy patterns and ground contact across a much larger footprint - more detectors, in more places, with the results interpreted per zone.

Landlords in Colorado have a specific obligation worth knowing. Senate Bill 23-206, effective 7 August 2023, requires landlords as well as sellers to provide a radon warning statement, disclose any radon test results and mitigation records they hold, and supply the CDPHE brochure. If you own rental property here and have never tested, that is a gap worth closing before a tenant asks rather than after.

Mitigation system design scales the same way - larger slabs need more suction points, and commercial buildings often have multiple foundation types and mechanical systems that affect the pressure field. Where crawl spaces are involved, sealing and insulation is part of the design.
